GentleLASE Laser Hair Removal

Advanced Anti-Aging Medicine - Laser Hair RemovalThe premier laser for precise, noninvasive hair removal and treatment for cosmetic skin conditions such as age spots, melasma, sun damaged skin, freckles, vascular lesions and wrinkle reduction. The GentleLASE has the largest spot size of any hair removal laser which means faster treatment time for clients. The built in patented Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) provides consistent, reproducible epidermal protection before and after the laser pulse. The DCD cooling system allows greater patient comfort and eliminates the need for applying gels. The GentleLASE treats most skin types. Reema Chaudri, MD, MRO answers some common questions about Laser Hair Removal:

How does the GentleLASE work?  The laser emits a gentle beam of light that passes through the skin to the hair follicle where it is absorbed. The laser energy is transformed into heat, which destroys the hair follicle leaving the surrounding skin unaffected.

How long does each treatment last?  Depending on size, a session could last less than 10 minutes to an hour.

Is it painful?  Most patients experience little discomfort, but the degree of discomfort varies with each person. The GentleLASE’s integrated DCD emits a cooling spray milliseconds before each laser light pulse for increased comfort and skin protection. In addition, topical anesthetics can be applied to minimize any discomfort.

How many times do patients have to return for treatment?  Patients typically require about 4-5 treatments as the process is only effective on hair during the early growing cycle.

Are there any side effects to treatment with Laser Hair Removal?  The treated area may become pink or red within 30 minutes of the procedure and can last from a few hours to several days.

Is the procedure conducted in a hospital?  No, this is a simple procedure performed in an outpatient setting in our offices.

How much does the procedure cost?  Prices for the treatment will vary, but laser therapy is expected to be less costly since it requires four treatments compared to drug and topical skin creams, which a patient can be expected to use for years.
